Unique Learning Opportunities for LA Area Musicians at the MacGathering
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 3, 2006
On May 19, musicians in Los Angeles have the chance to acquire some otherwise hard-earned knowledge about digitizing and distributing their music. The 3rd annual MacGathering™ is bringing in 41-year industry veteran Jerry Christie, along with other music pros, to provide some unique opportunities for musicians of all levels — and at an amazing price.
“LA is one of the hearts of the US music industry. There’s a lot of musical talent here,” explains show producer Deborah Shadovitz, “So I asked the brilliant folks at BIAS Inc and M-Audio, and others, ‘what do musicians of any level need to know or know better?’”
“People are often disappointed with the sound of their recording,” explains renowned musician Herbie Hancock, who is unable to attend due to his touring and recording schedule. “With the advent of mixing software, they figure they can fix any problems in the mix, but that rarely works. To truly capture the soul of a great performance you have to get the performance when it actually happens.” “’We thought we would fix it in the mix’ are famous last words in this industry. Great mic placement and technique can make the difference between a boring recording and a great listening experience,” explains Jerry. So how does one learn just where to place that mic? Typically, by lots of trial and error. “There simply isn’t one place, one class where you can learn this without paying thousands of dollars,” says Deborah Shadovitz.
Deb explains, “I wanted to find someone truly perfect to teach a master class on recording techniques, so I turned to a record producer-friend who owned Milagro Sound Recorders, which earned the honor of the cover of Mix magazine (May, 95) as well as placement in Mix’s Great Studios Of The World 1995 Calendar. He approached Jerry for me. We’re amazingly lucky that Jerry agreed to develop this master class for us and is so enthusiastic about this!”
Christie, who has recorded such notables as Chick Corea, Tiffany, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Boyz II Men, Lenny Kravitz, Jessica Andrews, and Brian McKnight, and teaches at both the Musician’s Institute and the Los Angeles Recording School, will also be teaching one of two seminars on mixing. He’s a ProTools user. Attendees can also learn about mixing using M-Audio’s Pro Tools M-Powered 7 from Oscar Garza, a musician in his own right and music teacher by trade.
The day of professional-level audio seminars is completed with a class on how to master mastering. “Mastering is another area where people have trouble. An improperly mastered CD can’t be guaranteed to play on all appropriate devices,” says BIAS’s Gabe Khofri, a professional drummer himself. “We’ll show folks how to use BIAS Peak to create a 100% Red-Book CD Master. (If you’re in music and don’t know what 100% Red-Book CD Master means, you definitely need this seminar.)” Then, to learn about the hottest option for distributing your music, join the Podcasting 101 seminar on Saturday.
From beginners to pros, anyone bringing music into his Mac, mixing, or creating a CD will miss a tremendous opportunity to gain some career changing skills if they miss these seminars.
Music beginners can learn about creating music and voice recording on Saturday. Many a business owner will find these seminars helpful as well; audio spots and podcasts can provide excellent promotion.
Additionally, BIAS Inc and both M-Audio will be in the show’s Exhibit Hall to demonstrate their products and answer questions. Also in the hall will be Synk Audio, premiering Musicbed DV, a new software which enables filmmakers to easily add dramatic music to films.
The cost for a Two-Day Seminars Pass is only $ 129 at the door, $ 109 in advance, or $ 89 for students, teachers or with a coupon available via the Register page. A One-Day Seminars Pass is just $ 80/$ 70/$ 55. These passes include Exhibit Hall entrance and free sessions as well. An Exhibit Hall/free sessions pass is only $ 15/$ 10/$ 7.

Question by Matt: Why does everyone think that Tony Romo is distracted by Jessica Simpson?
Is he not entitled to a life?? Every player goes on vacations during bye weeks if they want to, its just not all over the news b/c they aren’t going with a celebrity. I think this is a load of horse shit and he prepares just as hard as anyone in the league. All of this Jessica shit does not distract him, it’s his f***in girlfriend.

cause people just want something to talk about in the media, and they try to blame her for her loss against the eagles even though she was at just about all their games, just that the cameras werent on her, she was even in the packers game which they won.

When she hit the scene as an all-American pop singer with a powerful voice and squeaky clean image, Jessica Simpson joined Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in the pop dominance that hit the charts. Since then, she’s made her movie debut, starred in her own reality show and gotten divorced from pop star husband Nick Lachey, but she remains at the top of her game.

Looking to spice up your hairdo? A new line of Jessica Simpson hair pieces, “Bump Up the Volume,” was just released. Inspired by Ken Paves and created for the popular celeb Jessica Simpson, the 21-inch clip in hair piece blends with your natural hair and gives you voluminous, full hair in minutes.
The extension hair piece has a half-circle base with five moldable wires and four pressure-sensitive clips to help create a lift and add volume. To apply it, all you need to do is separate your own hair, clip in the extensions and adjust the height of the hair piece. Whether you want to add a little or a lot of volume to flat hair, simply push up on the piece for the look you want.
Similar to other hair pieces in Jessica Simpson’s line, this extension is made with Tru2Life® Heat Friendly fiber, which is conditioned to withstand heat up to 350 Fahrenheit and looks and styles just like your own hair. Also contributing to the natural-looking results, each of the ten colors is made from a blend of seven to 12 shades.
This virtually undetectable extension makes it easy for anyone to enjoy great root height and added volume without putting her hair through the damaging teasing process.
WigSuperstore.com guarantees the lowest prices on thousands of high premium and trusted brands, including HairDo by Ken Paves hair extensions and Jessica Simpson hair pieces, with styles ranging from wavy, straight, flipped, relaxed curl, layered and bangs. Lengths range from 14 to 22 inches.

WigSuperstore.com Reveals Top 10 Celebrity Hair Extensions and Wigs
Andover, KS (PRWEB) November 20, 2009
WigSuperstore.com, a nationally recognized wig supplier, reveals this Fall’s top 10 most popular celebrity hair extensions and wigs.
Movie, television and music stars have been using hair extensions and wigs to perfect their roles, change their styles or just play the part (see Lady Gaga) for years. WigSuperstore.com is now offering consumers hair extensions and wigs that match the look of your favorite celebs.
Here are the top 10 most popular celebrity styles you can create for yourself using hair extensions or wigs from WigSuperstore.com.
1. Gwyneth Paltrow has long been known for her iconic fashion sense and long, blonde locks. However, she has reemerged on the trend-setting scene by opting for a shorter, daring long bob.
2. Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, has been sporting her angular bob for a while, but it is still catching eyes, turning heads and inspiring women everywhere to lose the length. The retro-inspired cut is low-maintenance, yet exudes a glamorous, salon-fresh aura.
3. Pop superstar Rihanna has quickly become an award-winning singing sensation, a fashion icon and Cover Girl spokesperson. Her style transformation has pushed her to the forefront of the fashion scene, and women are requesting hairstyles by her name now. Trading in bobbed styles for the shorter gamine crop, Rihanna has achieved a playful and fresh look while maintaining a mature, modern edge.
4. Reality star and fashion designer Lauren Conrad is constantly creating popular looks and responding to changing trends, but the one thing that stays consistent is her fabulous mane. Her flowing locks have loose curls or a slight wave and are worn with a center part for a casual look or side-part for a glamorous image. Stars like Blake Lively, Drew Barrymore, Sarah Jessica Parker and Penelope Cruz maintain lengthy tresses with a similar sultry sophistication.
5. Country megastar Taylor Swift may be young, but she doesn’t let her blonde curly hair have a Shirley Temple effect on her image. Taylor’s curls are sexy and playful, yet innocent and powerful, giving her a dual-edged look that gets noticed.
6. Best known for her pop career and reality TV show, Jessica Simpson openly admits she uses hair extensions to enhance her already fabulous mane. In fact, she launched her own line of extensions with her hairstylist Ken Paves. Her line, HairDo, features real and synthetic clip-in extensions and are available and affordable for everyday customers.
7. Nicole Richie may make headlines for crazy behavior, friendships and entrance into motherhood, but she makes fashion features with her ever-changing hairstyles. She has rocked multi-colored extensions during her wilder days, glammed up her appearance with a retro bob and achieved a seductive appeal with waist-skimming locks.
8. As one of the world’s leading super models, Tyra Banks modified her look to suit the whims and demands of the fashion industry. Over the years, her hair color, length and style have changed drastically and quickly. No matter what look she is showing off, her appearance always looks classy and natural. To maintain her top model honors, she uses hair extensions on and off the runway.
9. When Latin beauty Shakira performs, her shows are energetic and entertaining. Part of her appeal is her unique appearance that is often defined by long, curly hair. On and off stage, her signature style is always being enhanced and modified. Through extensions, she will redefine what it means to have long hair or suddenly contrast platinum hair with black streaks.
10. Natalie Portman is one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses because she truly immerses herself in her roles. She has famously shaved her head for a film and has frequently worn extremely short hairstyles. When Natalie needs to add length to her hair quickly, she turns to extensions.
